Choosing to Change is Your Superpower — If You Desire to Change
But what is it you have the power to change — and why does it matter?
The one and only constant in the entire universe is change.
Like it or not, desire it or not, change can, will, and does occur. No matter how much you might wish it didn’t, it will.
Change can be so glacially slow that you don’t notice it until it’s already mostly occurred. Conversely, change can be almost instantaneous with utterly unexpected good and bad consequences. And of course, change can occur at a steady, visible pace equally as inevitable.
People change. However, some people work hard to remain as they have always been. Change might occur all around them, but they decide they will not be moved by it. They choose not to change.
Sometimes this is good. If you have a good heart, strive to be a good, giving, kind, caring, compassionate, and empathetic person more often than not — keep doing that.
Other times, this is bad. If you hold onto the world being a certain way that’s contrary to reality, and then cause hurt and harm in the interest of preventing progress — i.e. create anti-LGBTQA+ laws, deny basic human rights unless someone’s white, and so on — well, you should probably reconsider…
