Contemplation of Sunlight and Philosophy

On a cloudy day, this felt like a worthwhile poem to share.

In the sun, I feel complete.

I know it is no great mystery — science believes we need sunlight to lift our spirits.

So I sit, beneath the trees, in the shade, sunlight filtering through.

Children play, laughing, caring nothing for the weights of the world

How easily we forget how to let go and laugh and live only to play.

Birds sing with no care, songs we cannot understand, but take to heart none-the-less.

In this day and age, when technology lets us see a larger world than we can visit,

It’s hard to forget, how peaceful nature is in its element.

All around me, people moving about.

Some by car, some by foot, some by rollerblade, some by bike.

Some are alone. Some with others. Some with technology. Some without.

We are a curious study. Always in transition. Seldom at rest. Always looking.

Looking for what? Looking for somethings that may not exist.

Philosopher that I am, I watch. I observe.

What do I learn?
