I Might Be a Fat Guy, But I’m a Healthy Person Overall

Judging people by their bodies is unfair — fat, thin, or whatever.

All my life I’ve been one stripe of overweight or another.

I’m not sugar-coating this at all. I was a fat kid, and have tried numerous programs and diets over the years. At 5’6”, somewhere around 2005, I managed to drop below 200 pounds briefly — but not since. In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I reached 283 pounds.

Presently, through a combination of better dietary choices, exercise, meditation, and general self-care, I have been slowly losing weight. All the pandemic weight has come off and more. The jeans I was anxiously waiting to fit into fit me today.

But there is no denying that I am fat. My large, round belly is impossible to hide and hard to miss.

However — just because I am fat doesn’t mean I am unhealthy. I am, for the most part, totally healthy.

There is no denying I am heavyset. Granted, I carry all of my excess weight in my gut. But it’s still rather obvious.
