“If you do not look back and dislike your old self, you’re probably still the same person. If you do not look back at your old work and cringe, you probably haven’t improved. If you do not at least somewhat regret who you used to be, you probably haven’t grown much — and that, in the end, is the real definition of failure.”

This expresses something I’ve long felt but been seriously unable to put into words. It’s normal to dislike who you were — and releasing that helps you become better.
