In the mid 90s I worked for a tiny company that brought in a consultant. He thought his shit didn't stink. I saw right through him. When creating a letter for a sales thing, he insisted I include "award winning" in it. I asked him - "What awards have we won?" He was like, nobody will ask. I asked. My name was not going on something that bald-faced lied. The finished letter he saw included "award winning". The letter that went out did not. I left the company, and to my not surprise it ceased to exist a few months later.

Consultants are in it for their money, and so long as they get paid - who cares if the company succeeds. That's my experience.
