Is There Actually a Positive Right Way — or a Wrong Way — to Exercise?

For many people, “exercise” is a dirty word.

It conjures up images of sweaty bodies, breathing hard, and struggling. Some people watch the Peloton commercials and get inspired — but others look at that and go YUCK!

For those who are of the YUCK! mindset — getting exercise is still important. It’s part and parcel of your overall health and wellbeing.

I used to hate formal exercise. I had nothing against moving and doing things for self-care. But a formal exercise routine? No, thank you.

But then, I had a very bad experience. After a forced run across an airport terminal to catch a plane, it took an inordinately long time for me to properly catch my breath. So, needing to do something new for my health, I joined a gym.

With the help of an included personal trainer, I learned how to properly lift weights and created a routine of weightlifting and cardio. I discovered that I loved the elliptical machines in particular.
