I’ve Reached a Plateau! How Do I Get Off This Crazy Thing?

There is nothing quite so frustrating as a plateau.

When it comes to health and fitness, it’s an overall ongoing process.

Then, if you’re working on improvements to your health and fitness — you will inevitably hit a plateau.

That can be massively frustrating.

What is a plateau? It’s that point where you maintain the status quo for an unspecified amount of time.

In other words, you neither gain nor lose weight. Likewise, you see no improvement nor decline in your overall health, fitness, and related blood-tested numbers.

In my experience, this always occurs. And not just in this realm.

During the 30 years I have been participating in medieval rapier (fencing) combat — I have seen my students plateau — and certainly have done so myself more than once.

What does that look like? No improvement of skill (but no degradation, either). You can practice as frequently as you desire — but nothing changes.

This is utterly frustrating and infuriating.
