Politicians are the Servants of the People
Not the other way around. And it’s time to remind you and them of this truth.
It’s time to put into perspective an important truism in American politics.
That truism is this — politicians are the servants of the people. Period. Full stop.
Increasingly over the years, we’re seeing more and more politicians making it damned clear they serve nobody but themselves. For example — Ted Cruz. The people of Texas are suffering because of poor policy decisions made in the name of the almighty dollar — and he runs off with his family to Cancun. Spin it all you want, Senator — that’s a clear abandonment of responsibility.
The worst example, of course, is Trump. Nothing he did during his term as President served anyone but himself. And if that’s not bad enough, he’s developed a whole cult of personality that endangers the entire fabric of our democracy in truly terrifying ways.
Over and over we see politicians representing a very specific few. And while most of the examples I can point to are Republican (when your party abandons its principles for the sake of white supremacy or any other abhorrent notion just to gain and hold office, you show your lack of moral code) Democrats do it, too.
