Taking Things Personally?

Finding the line between the personal and impersonal.

Presently, I am dealing with a situation in my life that is stressing me out.

As I consider why it’s stressing me out, the question of whether I should be taking it personally — or not — has been raised.

On the one hand, the reason I have taken the stance I have on the subject is to safeguard something bigger than me.

However, on the other hand, the reason this is being problematic in the first place might be due entirely to me.

Or rather, something mistakenly attributed to me that I was not responsible for. But how that caused certain parties to feel is outside my control.

But as I analyze this situation, the notion of taking things personally is on my mind.

Specifically, how does my personal stake in this impact my actions? What does it mean to or for me? Is this something that I should take personally and focus on or not?

Outside of the specifics of the current matter, taking things personally, I believe, causes all kinds of unnecessary tension, misunderstandings, and can lead to a lot of unhealthy issues mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Why do I take things personally?
