Well written. I do, on the one hand, agree — but on the other disagree. A person CAN manifest their destiny…but a lot of the proponents of this notion have it wrong as you are saying.

When people talk about the idea of “manifest your destiny” and the whole notion of doing just 10% of the work and then the Universe will provide, that’s where they have it wrong. The Secret and “ask/believe/receive” ignores just how much actual work you need to give it. You have to think, feel, and act on the destiny you seek to manifest. It’s a lot of work, which is part of why I think so few people do it.

Also, I agree that coming from a place of privilege makes a huge difference. A lot of people do not see privilege (our own in particular) for what it is.

So I don’t agree that it is a lie in-and-of-itself, just that many approaches to it are.
