What Can We Do With this Anger?
I am, I know, not the only one in this position feeling this way. This is me doing something about it. Care to join me?
I am feeling an unreasonable amount of anger.
Why? Because I thought that people were better than this.
COVID-19 is not the only pandemic we are fighting currently. We are also fighting a wave of selfishness and stupidity.
How have reasonable stay-at-home orders to protect the population turned into government tyranny to squash civil liberties? When did scientists and doctors with no agenda become less credible than politicians and demagogues? How did all the gains for equality, civil rights, and similar issues get completely disregarded and undone?
I know that the people perpetuating these problems are the minority. Why? Because they naturally are. There are more women than men in the world and more total minorities than white people. But because white men made the rule of law for a long time, they still hold an unreasonable amount of sway.
I am a cis-gendered straight white middle-aged male. And when I see others of my generation and my parents’ generation being horrible to their fellow humans in various ways I become unreasonably angry. How dare you think to…
