What Matters Most When It Comes to Your Health, Wellness, and Wellbeing?
It’s not the numbers that matter most — what matters most is more sublime.
Every time I go to the doctor’s office, one of the first things they do is weigh me.
The numbers on the scale can be massively disempowering. Particularly if they are higher than they were last time.
These are not the only numbers we consult for our health, wellness, and wellbeing. We also look at our A1C, liver numbers, cholesterol, blood pressure, height, BMI, and more.
I am not rejecting the importance of many of these numbers. Particularly those we can adjust for our betterment like A1C and cholesterol. But what I’d like to examine is the more sublime elements of health, wellness, and wellbeing.
What are you feeling? How are you feeling? These are different notions around emotions that speak to their complexity. All emotions have a what and a how attached to them. You might identify the what of an emotion as anger or happiness. But the how of the anger might be ice cold or red hot, and the how of the happiness might be a sensation of butterflies in the belly or deep contentment and peace in your chest.
