What New Action(s) Should I Take for My Health and Wellness?
Is there any particular new action(s) I should choose to take?
--
At the start of 2012, I did something new. Instead of a New Year’s Resolution — I created a New Year’s Action.
Rather than post a blog on occasion — I acted to write one blog a week every Wednesday. Once I made a habit of that, it led to my current practice of blogging 5 days a week.
This showed me that a New Year’s Action was a lot more powerful than a New Year’s Resolution.
Since 2012, I’ve worked to create other New Year’s Actions. As we bring 2021 to a close — and I’ve been working on this practice for a decade now — I reach this question.
What new action(s) — if any — should I take this year?
More specifically — are there actions that will better my health and wellness that I should possibly take?
Why do I need anything new?
In just over 9 months, I turn 50. Before that, I would very much like to get my health and wellness more optimal.
Why does age 50 matter? Because I have read that after 50, getting into shape — when you are out of shape — is just that much more challenging.
How out of shape am I? That depends on certain viewpoints.
Physically — there’s no denying I’m overweight. My gut is prominent. Frankly, that’s where more or less all my excess weight lives.
According to my A1C, I am pre-diabetic. I also have high cholesterol — but I take a statin for that.
Otherwise — my blood pressure is perfect, my resting heart is in the 60s, and I do a decent amount of exercise of various types regularly.
Still — I would like to drop the excess weight and lower the less-than-ideal numbers. I don’t feel the need to drop down to the weight the charts suggest I should (around 164 pounds). But I would like to drop below 200 pounds.
Nine months to reach that goal isn’t a lot of time. While I am working on my diet and exercise — and have been — there is room for improvement.
