Why Do We So Easily Disregard Our Mental Health Matters?
Mental health does not get the regard it should. But we can change that together.
Everyone on the planet deals with matters of health, wellness, and wellbeing. Along those lines, everyone has four primary areas of health to consider — mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual.
Overall, our focus tends to be towards physical health. How you feel (physically) gets all the attention. And then, I’d argue spiritual health gets the next most attention. How else can you explain the ongoing blurring of the separation of church and state?
But mental health? It is still loaded with stigmas, swept under the rug, used as a scapegoat, or otherwise given far less attention than it should receive.
Because in truth — mental health is the most important health of all.
Mental health is our state of mind
Mental health is where our overall wellness and wellbeing live. They are products of mental health. For the sake of this topic, let’s mostly include emotional health — though it’s less a state of mind (a state of heart, really) even when tied to mental health.
