Why Does “It” Feel Like It’s Never Easy to Do?

It’s never easy, in part, because what “it” is varies over time.

In my experience, most of the things worth having in this life are never easy to do.

For me, this includes losing weight/getting into shape, overcoming depression, selling books, attempting careers in theatre and radio, and numerous relationships both platonic and romantic. These things are never easy.

Any montage in a movie or TV show where the thing is built, the exercise prepares the body and mind, or the months and months of diligent work are made to look easy, spoils us. How wouldn’t want to go from doughy to buff in 60 seconds?

Modern society is hell-bent on doing it quicker, faster, more efficiently. It doesn’t matter what “it” is — we love shortcuts and the fastest possible ways to make it happen.

Why is it never easy to do? Sure, once in a great while, that thing that you do IS easy. But overall, it takes effort, work, dedication, and perseverance.

Why? Because the goal, while great, is not as important as the journey.

Why is the journey so important?

Most of life is lived between any given points “A” and “B”.
