Why Should You Like Yourself?

Liking yourself is a challenge for lots of people. But you are worthy and deserving of it.

A friend recently posted a meme on Facebook that went something like this:

Name something that a lot of people like, but you can’t stand.

Their answer? Myself.

And in response, more than one person agreed that they have the same issue. They also don’t like themselves.

I completely understand this problem. Because for many years, I didn’t much like myself, either. And that was on multiple levels.

I didn’t like my body, my life choices, my habits, my actions and inactions, and just about every other aspect of who, what, where, and how I was at the time. Nope, I did not like myself much at all.

There are numerous things I can point to for the why of this. Situations that, of course, were mostly of my own making.

And then, like lots of people do, I could have blamed my parents and their divorce for my stunted emotional growth. Hell, there were all kinds of excuses I could make and find for why it was perfectly valid for me not to like myself.

When all is said and done, I realized most of why I didn’t like myself much at all was because I felt…
