Will the Metaphorical Net at the End of this Leap Arrest My Fall?
I believe that it will. Thus, I’ll take the leap knowing the net will catch me.
The best way to do anything at all is to do it.
One of my favorite sayings, attributed as a Zen quote as well as to naturalist John Burroughs, is,
“Leap and the net will appear.”
Doing anything new that you have never done before can be terrifying.
Likewise, it can be exciting. But that excitement is often tinged with terror, too.
This is completely natural. As human beings, we all seek to find comfort in the world we live in. Comfort is knowing and familiarity. This makes anything that we experience easier to work with.
We nest. Many people love to create a space that is “theirs”, surrounded by familiar and comfortable things.
I do it. I love my home office setting. My comfy desk chair, the beautiful desk that belonged to my grandfather, my art, my bookshelves — this is my comfortable space.
