I love food.
It’s never just about sustenance for me. I love the various tastes, textures, differences of hot and cold, sweet, sour, savory, umami, and so on. Food is an experience and a source of comfort.
I love movement.
For over 30 years, I’ve actively been doing medieval rapier combat — fencing. Swordplay always makes me feel better — the intricacy of the movements, the slightest shift in position and posture making the difference in attack and defense, victory and defeat.
Hikes in nature bring me calm, balance, and joy. Going for a walk around my apartment complex lets me gather my thoughts and consider choices and decisions both made and unmade.
I love reading.
I read for 30–60 minutes every morning. When I first wake up, I immediately get comfortable on my couch and start my journey into imaginative, creative fictional worlds and insightful nonfictions.
