The mysterious, faceless “they/them” of the world want to disempower you.
Why? Because they believe that in doing so they can control you. If you have no power of your own you will turn to an outside resource for power, and “they” intend to be that resource.
So “they” use what power, influence, and resources are at their disposal to create artificial lack, scarcity, and wield fear like a scythe through a wheat field to scare you into not popping your head up to look around for fear of being beheaded.
How do I know this? Because lack and scarcity are bullshit. The Universe is so, so vast, it’s practically infinite. Because it’s so big it is full to bursting with abundance, not lacking. What’s more, no resource is so precious and finite that it cannot be replaced.
Don’t believe me? Coal and oil energy can be replaced by wind and solar power. Gold can be replaced with paper, coin, and other totally artificial monies. The resource does not run out, it is supplanted with another option to do the same damn thing.
I am starting with these large, abstract matters because you are constantly bombarded with them by the faceless “them.” Why? To distract you. When you are afraid and seeing a world depleted of resources you are disempowered.
Distraction distorts the truth
When you are distracted by these external matters and focused on being scared about what is lacking and scarce, you tend to be turned outwards. And that is what “they” want. Why? Because if you actually look within you will find YOUR power.
Everyone has power. EVERYONE. You can do just about anything you really put your mind to. How? By being aware of what is inside your head.
I know many people who do not like to look within. Some feel this way because they are depressed and fear the darkness they anticipate is inside. Others feel this way because they are scared of who they might really be because the outside world seems more real than anything in their own head. Still others feel this way because they are concerned that what they will find they won’t like much.
This is all untrue. Sure, you might encounter darkness inside yourself, things you dislike, and surreal notions and ideas. However, unlike the world without, the world within is wholly yours to control.
How do you control it? By practicing mindfulness.
Mindfulness may not be what you think it is
Let’s get this out of the way first. Mindfulness is not the end-all-be-all of the Universe. It is the gateway to the self. The first step to empowering yourself is being mindful.
Nobody can control you but you. You may choose to allow the ideas of other people to dictate the things you do and the thoughts and feelings that you have. However, the thoughts, feelings, and actions you have and do belong to nobody but you. They are entirely yours to control.
THAT is what mindfulness is. It’s not hooky-spooky bullshit, its awareness. Since nobody can think or feel for you, because nobody else can be inside your head, being aware is up to you.
When you choose to be on autopilot and let life just sort of happen hour-by-hour, day-by-day, you are not being mindful. That’s because you are unaware of exactly what you are thinking, and from there what and how you are feeling. Even some of your actions are just by rote, and lacking true awareness, too.
Overcoming the fear of looking within
There are any number of fictions that will tell you that as soon as you look within yourself you will find awful things. Disturbing ideas, terrible desires, horrors almost unimaginable.
This is simply not true. You are what you will find within yourself.
I suffer from depression, too. When you are depressed the damned brain weasels whisper all sorts of lies to you. They tell you that you are unworthy, unloved, deserving of whatever shit you are going through. This is what you get because this is who you truly are.
That is total, utter, and complete bullshit. The brain weasels are a lie. You are a worthwhile person deserving of whatever good you can find and/or create.
Let me just tell you that unless you intentionally do things to harm other people, you are a good person. Unintentional harm will occur because it’s just part of human nature, even though that’s super hard to accept. It’s still the truth.
What you will find within is you. Because you are the only one inside your head. Don’t be afraid of that, don’t let the black dog or brain weasels, anxiety or depression, scare you from looking within.
Why? Because what you are thinking and what and how you are feeling, when you become aware of them, fall under your influence and control. That is why you are afraid to look within. Because your subconscious, the fear it produces, will be disempowered.
And then you will be empowered.
I believed the lie that looking inside myself would be terrible. It was not. I found instead that I am stronger than I thought I was, and that I am capable of nearly anything I set my mind to.
Become aware of just how strong you really are
The masses that buy into the lies of the faceless “they” have chosen to let fear rule them. For the most part, they are not making conscious choices at all, and instead allowing their subconscious to drive them around.
You are stronger than “they/them.” When you become aware of your thoughts and feelings, you gain the power to take intentional actions to drive your own life where you desire it to go.
But more than that you empower yourself. That power allows you to handle just about anything that gets thrown your way.
That is why I am sharing this truth. Whatever you are going through, whatever you might be dealing with in your life, you have far more power than you realize. Practicing the basics of mindfulness to be aware of your thoughts and feelings will go far.
No, it is not going to be instantaneous, nor initially all that easy to do. But the more you acknowledge your own power the more you gain control. That will disempower the depression and anxiety, and help you learn to believe in yourself and your abilities.
If I can do it, anyone can. You are so very strong. Take that to heart and offer the “they/them” an extended middle finger by recognizing the empowerment of your own power.
You are worthy and deserving of using your mindfulness to find and/or create the reality in which you desire to live. When all is said and done you matter, so kick ass and take names!
